Your confidence, your mojo—one of my favorite topics for new REALTORS® (and everyone else). Let’s take a quick inventory on how you’re showing up.
How’s your energy level? Do you like talking to people? When your learning curve is steep, do you keep your energy up? Do you exude confidence, or do you muster it up? In our online training program (coming June 2016), we call this your POWER SCORE and get into it in more detail. For now, let’s cover the basic premise of your POWER SCORE and how it impacts your results.
POWER SCORE Basic Premise
Why do some agents succeed and other well-intentioned agents never really make it? In five intense years of training new agents, I realized there is this somewhat intangible yet moderately palpable thing that combines your energy, your confidence, your eye contact, your voice, your posture, your motivation, your nutrition, your internal dialogue . . . simply, how you’re showing up in this world. We’ll call this your POWER SCORE.
So here is a little task for you today: Rate yourself on your POWER SCORE (scale of 1-10, 1 is low, 10 is high). How are you showing up?
You’re having a hard time showing up with confidence and energy. If this is situational, then you may need to embrace the “fake it till you make it” mantra; if this is a pattern, talk with some valuable people in your life STAT, and push this into the medium range ASAP. Here’s the deal: low POWER SCORE and you will have a hard time attracting clients or gaining rapport or trust. It’s a mojo issue that can crush your business before it even starts. Address ASAP.
Medium indicates that high is possible. Pick one thing you can focus on this week that may bump your score up a point or two . . . incremental changes and tweaks. Better sleep, coffee with a positive friend or mentor, affirmations, exercise, writing down your goals. Hey, you started a new really big chapter in your life . . . sometimes confidence is a bit elusive in times of something big and new.
You rock the room, you attract people, you raise your hand often, you are super engaging. If you’re an introvert (yes, introverts can have a high POWER SCORE), you’re attentive and articulate. Regardless, you move quickly; if you hit a bump, you keep moving forward. You’re willing to try things, you’re positive and optimistic. You most likely have decent sleep, eat, and exercise habits. HIGH is good . . . take a moment to identify two or three things that help you stay in the zone.
Your POWER SCORE can change from day to day. This would be normal. What we’re looking for is awareness and consistency. To show up solid in your business (heck, in your life), you need to consistently land in the medium-high range. Too much low and you’ll be out of the business before you know it. Hang out in the high range, and you’ll gain traction faster than everyone else.
Having an ongoing awareness of your Power Score will help you take ownership for where you are in the world. You see, it’s not about misplacing your mojo (it happens), it’s your ability to get it back that separates the top from the middle.
